LED Light Bars versus Spotlights for Spillway Water Feature Projects
Deciding on the type of lighting for your Spillway Water Feature projects can be confusing.
We will endeavour to summarize below in layman terms when best to use our LED Light bars and when to use our Spotlights.
1) when you want to create a water feature with a Projecting effect, LED light bars are a great option as the light follows the flow of water projecting down the spillway lip (typically 200-300mm dependent on angle of sight) and produces a dynamic night lighting effect. See Photo 1.
2) When you are choosing a Cascading / Wall Wash effect, because water will free fall perpendicular to the spillway lip face (LED light bar lighting generally do not bend at 90 degree angles) therefore all you will see is a strip of light at the spillway lip line only. We therefore recommend using Spotlights in this instance, located at the bottom of your pond or trough and directing up your water feature wall. The spotlights will highlight your main feature wall texture, with lights reflecting off water running down the face of the wall. See Photo 2.
